In Orbit explores how the perspective of looking back at Earth from outer space has fundamentally shifted our perception of the planet and its environment since the 1957 launch of Sputnik, the first artificial satellite. The work features iconic images such as Earthrise and The Blue Marble—photographs that emerged unexpectedly during the Apollo missions’ race to the moon and went on to become enduring symbols of the global environmental movement.
Through a collage of NASA imagery, space simulation games, and archival photographs and audio, In Orbit reflects on our current era of image saturation—a time when a truly new "awakening" feels increasingly elusive. By looking back at these historical milestones, the film interrogates the profound and complex relationship between visual representation and our understanding of the Earth and its environment.
